Yes. When installed according to instructions, Ellis guardrail stanchions fully meet and exceed OSHA Code 1926.502 for passive fall protection. They are engineered from heavy-duty steel and are structurally proven to withstand lateral/horizontal loads in excess of 250 lbs—surpassing the OSHA requirement of 200 lbs of force for top rails.
Achieving code compliance is simple with our adjustable designs. For example, our Parapet Wall Grabber features rail pockets that can be adjusted vertically in 3" increments (from 12" to 45" above the wall). This allows you to easily raise or lower your lumber rails to hit the exact 42" OSHA height requirement, even if your concrete form or retaining wall is uneven.
Our guardrail pockets are highly versatile and engineered to accommodate standard job site materials. You can securely drop in standard 2x4 lumber, 2x6 lumber, or perimeter safety cables depending on your project's specific safety plan. For the base of the stanchion, pockets are perfectly positioned to hold a 2x4 toboard to stop tools from falling to lower levels.
No. Both our Slab Grabbers and Wall Grabbers are engineered as non-penetrating systems. They feature a smooth, powerful 5/8" Acme screw assembly that allows you to secure the bracket tightly with minimal torque (only 20 ft-lbs required). This provides an incredibly firm grip for robust edge protection without requiring permanent anchoring, drilling, or causing surface damage.
While OSHA governs worker fall protection loads, ACI 347 (Guide to Formwork for Concrete) dictates that temporary construction attachments must not cause structural cracking, spalling, or localized crushing on freshly poured concrete.
